Angry Seagull Adventure Race
The Angry Seagull is the ideal race for anyone interested in experiencing the challenge and excitement of a 24-hour wilderness adventure.   Whether you've completed 24-hour races, 8-hour races, or have never adventure raced before, the Angry Seagull is a race for you.
WHO: YOU and 1 to 3 Teammates
WHAT: 24-hour Adventure Race
WHEN: July 2013
WHERE: Currently Exploring!

WHAT IS AN ADVENTURE RACE?
In an adventure race, teams travel together non-stop through wilderness locations.   Each team is given a map and must bike, canoe, and trek to a series of checkpoints, without outside assistance, using only their map and compass to guide them.   It will be up to your team to determine your strategy for selecting the best route, equipment, food and pace to successfully complete the race.

RACE DISCIPLINES & DISTANCE:
Trek, Bike, Canoe, Bushwhack, Map & Compass Navigation
Total distance ~ 150km

TEAM FORMAT:
Teams must consist of two, three or four racers.

In keeping with adventure racing tradition, the Premiere division will be co-ed teams of three or four racers, and priority for prizing will go to teams competing in the Premiere division. All-female, all-male, and two-person teams are welcome and will be ranked in the Open division (along with all co-ed teams). In the Open division, at least the top finishing team will also receive prizing. With this in mind, register any team of two, three or four that will make the race an enjoyable one for you.

UNSUPPORTED RACE / SUPPORT CREW OPTIONAL:
Decision regarding support crew vs unsupported still to be made for 2013.
In 2011, Angry Seagull will be an UNSUPPORTED adventure race (meaning NO support crew required). We will get your team to the start line and transport your gear between transition areas.

We are leaving the option of bringing a support crew open though - in case your team wants the extra boost in transition areas or you have family or friends just itching to be part of your race experience. We will still transport your team to the start line, but your crew will be responsible for transporting your gear (except canoes) between TAs.

OPTIONAL ROTATING TEAM FORMAT:
Decision regarding rotating team format still to be made for 2013.
In this format, your team will include both racers and support crew... and can switch between those roles throughout the race. At each transition area, support crew members can trade places with racers. This team format is for those wanting to experience the adventure but not wanting to tackle the whole 24-hours or every race discipline. Rotating teams will be ranked in the Open division but will not be eligible for prizing.

GEAR LIST:
